Glasses: What to Do and What Not to Do

Glasses are advanced clinical devices that help you see with clarity and precision, but they may not work effectively if not properly cared for. Without regular cleaning and careful storage, your glasses may become damaged or bent, reducing their effectiveness for vision correction. Here are the do’s and don’ts of glasses care to ensure you maintain their quality and extend their lifespan.

Various Methods to Clean Your Glasses (Properly)

At some point, everyone’s lenses get a little grimy. Fingerprints, watermarks, dust, grit, and other unidentifiable residues can accumulate. But don’t worry! Here are five simple ways to keep your glasses spotless:

Spray It, Don’t Say It
You don’t need an expensive lens cleaning solution to keep your glasses in great shape. Many affordable and reliable options are available on the market. The key is to wipe your lenses with a microfiber cloth after spraying. Avoid cleaners with ammonia, bleach, or vinegar, as they can damage the protective coatings on your lenses, making them more prone to scratches.

Go Disposable
Avoid wiping your glasses with dry, abrasive fabrics—this includes using your shirt or paper towels. Instead, opt for disposable wet lens wipes. These pre-moistened wipes use isopropyl alcohol to clean your glasses thoroughly without leaving unsightly streaks. Simply wipe, toss, and you’re good to go!
